What a lovely idea! Spotted in Henleaze Library today, near my parents' house: a special area for writers. A great way to encourage local writers and creativity. Wish I lived close enough to use it! Following my cover reveal teaser the other day - here's the full cover in all its glory! A terrific original drawing by the talented @rachellawston, commissioned by my wonderful publisher @bookandtonic aka Boldwood Books. Like to see an exclusive cover reveal of my second Gemma Lamb Cozy Mystery? Nip over to the Poison and Pens Facebook community at 2pm today! (Saturday 6th August) - a great group for anyone who loves cozy crime! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1042138509721886 Enjoying one of the books I bought on holiday from a charity shop in Callander. It was a bit of a muddly shop with a half-hearted and misguided attempt at classifying the books - this was one of three adult books I bought that had been wrongly been put in the children's section. Ironically it's a hilarious comedy about a Catholic couple struggling with the rules on contraception as they try to stop their family growing any bigger! If this Scottish castle looks familiar, it's because it was used as a set in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" - the scene in which John Cleese is a French guard deterring King Arthur and his knights from entering by throwing cows and other items off the battlements. Just finished reading a book I bought at King's Bookshop in Callander: Barbara Pym's final book, "An Academic Question", a wry portrait of university life, in particular of theot of lecturers' wives. I have had a vacancy for a new favourite secondhand bookshop since the fabulous @bookbarnbbi sadly closed last month, and I think I've now filled it with the much smaller but characterful King's Bookshop in Callander, stuffed full of old books, many of them hardback, on unlabelled shelves, with an ancient printing press and printing paraphernalia in one of its rooms. Love the confident slogan painted on the window: "We're the reason you came". Really moved by the Immersive Van Gogh experience at the Propyard in Bristol today. So many inspirational quotes, as well as the vivid audio visual show devised around his impassioned and energetic paintings. At one point he apparently produced a new work every 36 hours - yet only sold one painting in his lifetime. I'd really like to read a biography now. Anyone got any recommendations? Happy 3rd birthday to the wonderful, innovative, multiple-award-winning publishing company Boldwood Books - so proud to be one of their authors!
