Very Enjoyable ReadCarol Westron on the Promoting Crime blog

Springtime for Murder is the fifth book in the series of Sophie Sayers Village Mysteries and it is fun to see Sophie settling happily into her new role. The book has an interesting plot, centred around the dynamics of Bunny’s family but it is also very much about the village community, which is full of eccentric but engaging characters. It is a pleasant, easy-to-read book, perfect for relaxing with. A very enjoyable read. (For the full review, click the link above.)

Another great installment in the Sophie SeriesKindle Customer

Another great installment in the Sophie Sayers series, this time following the village through Easter time. More interesting characters, convoluted mysteries and continued developments in the relationships of the main players make this another page turner.

An Engaging & Entertaining MysteryShay Tressa DeSimone

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying all of the novels in Debbie Young’s Sophie Sayers series, and this one has been my favorite so far! Debbie is really hitting her stride as a mystery writer, just as Sophie is as an amateur detective. Who tipped Bunny Carter into a freshly dug grave? What’s the story behind her crazy outfit? And who committed the murder that occurs later in the story? There are plenty of suspects and plenty of motives to keep readers guessing until the end. As noted in the headline, I found this book to be both engaging and entertaining, and I can’t wait to read the next in the series!

Another cosy gem – “Dab reader”

Another cosy gem from Debbie Young. Sophie Sayers is becoming a regular sleuth in Wendlebury Barrow! I thought at the beginning that Sophie was becoming a bit of a doormat, thankfully this wasn’t the case and she finds herself growing in strength throughout this lovely book. This gentle series helps to pass the time on winter or summer days, and this is another one to snuggle down with.

The perfect feel-good antidote to winter bluesSusan Grossey

This latest dose of the Sophie Sayers stories slips down perfectly – although, as every writer knows, easy reading means hard writing, so many thanks to Debbie Young for her usual sterling work. As ever, life is not quite as idyllic in Wendlebury Barrow as it might appear, and this well-crafted story involves a large family, property developers (boo hiss!), medical mysteries and a pair of fetching bunny rabbit ears. I’m saying no more, except that I now know what a peck is. And Debbie skilfully drops in tempting hints about what Sophie might do next – I’m desperate to read about (and indeed go on) her Greek writing retreat.

Took me out of the rain and into the sunshineJo

I have read nearly all of the series of Sophie Sayers Mysteries books and as the next in the series this one didn’t disappoint. I feel I know all the characters like friends and so much enjoyed reading about Sophie’s latest sleuthing escapade. Gentle and funny with well observed characters. This lovely book kept me company during the long dark evenings bringing some light into shade and a smile to push back the cold.

Such fun!Amie McCracken

I can’t find a word better for describing this book than fun. It had me giggling, biting my nails for the characters. I couldn’t put it down and want to live in this tiny village if only to people watch and be a fly on the wall. This entire series is such an adventure.
